The Canberra Times reports that the alleged perpetrators of the Hughes shooting last year have been committed to stand trial:
Kai Yuen, 26, who is alleged to have pulled the trigger, and Todd Elphick, 24, were this morning formally committed to stand trial in the ACT Supreme Court over the death of Brendan Scott Welsh.
A third co-accused, 21-year-old Cameron Ashcroft, was committed in December and released on bail earlier this month after spending 10 months in custody.
Yuen is charged with murdering 28-year-old Mr Welsh behind the Hughes shops in May.
Elphick and Ashcroft are accused of aiding and abetting Yuen to intentionally inflict grievous bodily harm after murder charges were downgraded last year.
It is alleged the pair were acting on the assumption Yuen was going to shoot Mr Welsh in the foot.
Elphick is also charged with threatening a witness, and Ashcroft is accused of harming police at the ACT Watch House during his arrest.
All three have plead not guilty.
