Keep an eye out for my stolen push bike please!

swapsies

I had let a mate borrow it for most of last year as I wasn’t really using it. He dropped it over last night and as we had a few wines with dinner I “reasoned” I would wait until the morning to move it from the front porch to the basement. My bad.

Some dirtbag must have been riding past last night and saw my bike, dumped his older model on my front lawn and took mine! The police picked up the dumped bike this morning when I gave my report. I live on Masson St opposite Haig Park in Turner.

It is a black mens Avanti Discovery hybrid model about 3 years old. It has the side cap missing from one of the handlebars. Red LED light at the back and only a white reflector at the front. Drink bottle holder is fitted.

Here is a picture of my bike.

Here is a picture of the bike the thief left out the front of my place.

If you see it or have any information, please let me know! I reckon a case of beer could be in it for some solid information :D

I have emailed Pedal Power and will give flyers to local bike shops as suggested in other posts about stolen bikes.

Thanks everyone!

I also have been a victim of a bicycle theft. You tend to appreciate why they hung horse theives in days of old.

Roamed the streets for months looking at every bike until it dawned on me it would have been shipped out of town.

So I wish you well, but suggest you psyche yourself up for it being gone forever.

Simon, try the nearest two local woolworths to Turner or Lyneham and O’Connor shops with flyers placed on noticeboards. Hopefully when the thief does his smaller shopping, someone will notice before he notices your posters. The nearby university boards is worth advertising, particularly with all the Uni students who are honest and see many of their fellow students riding around and parking the bikes at Uni.

Is your garage left open onto Haig park?

Rather than being shocked at the bike being stolen I would have been shocked if it was still there the next morning. Looks as though the new one has front suspension though. Free upgrade!

I’m pretty sure it had a bell, yes.

I have been switching my running to areas around the housing commission near my place having a look and will continue to run past the uni lockups on the way to the gym to check there.

I’m pretty sure I will have to concede that it is gone. Thanks anyway guys.

I had a black and green Repco bike dumped in my yard in Braddon overnight. If it’s yours leave a message here…

Last night at around 6:30pm, I received an SMS tip from an amazing stranger named Alice who informed me there were a bunch of Aborigine kids riding Avanti bikes around Dickson. (Her bike was stolen and recovered from said kids over the weekend).
My brother and I jumped in the car and raced over there. Sure enough a group of young teenagers were hanging out in the McDonalds carpark and one of them was on my bike. We jumped out and I grabbed the handlebars of my bike and started questioning the kid as to where he got the bike from. His mates all bolted immediately. After I informed him that this bike was taken from my place 2 days ago, he advised me that it was actually his bike as his mate gave it to him yesterday. After I pointed out the fact that both stories still point to the fact that it was in fact my bike, he resorted to profanities as he walked off. I loaded my bike into the car and we drove home.
The other kids had very nice bikes so I would suggest checking in on Dickson shops if you are also missing a bike. They were first spotted near Harris Scarfe so check that whole area around the Woolies.
