Kingston laundry fire

ACT Fire & Rescue have extinguished a small fire in a laundromat in the Cusack Centre, Kingston.

Crews were alerted to the fire by an automatic fire alarm at 10:18pm and responded with three fire pumpers, a Breathing Apparatus Van, a Hazardous Materials Unit and two Commanders.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire which had been controlled by the building’s sprinkler system.

The centre was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

Crews are now conducting ventilation and atmospheric monitoring and will depart the scene shortly.

The estimated damage of the fire is $40,000.
