Madam Cholet has sent in this stunning shot with a note:

Spotted this little guy minding his own business on a lavender flower in my garden.

Turns out he was quite photogenic as well in the late afternoon sun.

I expect he was probably picked off by a bird sometime later, but that’s life hey!

An alien just beamed down on that flower. Or did he look around and ask to be beamed back up?

If he looked around at my garden, he would have asked to be beamed back up.
And the typo was JB’s not mine. I can spell lavender.

Interesting, madamcholet, I have had a thriving colony of mantises in my lavender patch (half a dozen bushes of various types) for many years. I guess the constant stream of insects visiting the flowers makes a lavender the fast food joint of the mantis world.
