To celebrate Yuri’s Night (Monday the 15th), ADFA are hosting a public lecture on mining and manufacturing in space. Daniel Faber of Deep Space Industries in Belgium will be talking talk about prospecting near Earth asteroids.

That sounds pretty awesome.

Deep Space Industries prospects, harvests and processes space resources and is developing a fleet of low cost spacecraft for prospecting near Earth asteroids. Larger spacecraft will then retrieve asteroid samples, eventually scaling up in size to return larger quantities for processing in high Earth orbit, creating propellant to extend the lives of communications satellites, supply government needs and building materials for expanding in-?space infrastructure. In parallel, Deep Space has a patent pending for a 3D printing process that quickly transforms raw asteroid material into high-?strength metal parts, and is working on other critical elements in the space resources supply chain.
