For the many of you into this sort of thing Events ACT are letting you know that the Civic Square lighting of the Christmas Tree is good to go.

Christmas festivities are sure to entertain the entire family with the official start of the festive season at the Lighting of the Christmas Tree in Civic Square, from 7pm on Friday 2 December.

Christmas cheer will flood Civic Square with fabulous entertainment, and a special visit by Santa Claus himself!

Come nightfall, the crowd will witness Canberra’s spectacular 21 metre high Christmas tree being lit. Each of the tree’s LED lights will be powered by ActewAGL’s Green Choice program.

Families can bring their own picnic or purchase food and drink on site. You are advised to bring along your own chair or picnic rug.

Nevermind, finally found the magical search string.

Nice work Events ACT, doesn’t appear on your events calendar:

Anyone know when this is happening this year (2012)?

Hopefully all the construction work around there will be finished by then.
