"Live In Canberra" to target students - also admits to dismal failure

This site has long considered the “Live in Canberra” to be a pathetic, marketing driven, substitute for real action on the ills of our city.

In an attempt to puff the project on CityNews the indications are not good.

UNIVERSITY students will be the next target following the success of “Live in Canberra”, the month-long campaign to attract new residents to the national capital

So they think that students who’ve spent 3+ years living here are going to be interested in a brochure? Are they actually offering any inducements to live here other than slick marketing?

But that’s just warming us up for the real turd-polishing:

“Live in Canberra”, a joint venture between the government and the private sector, has prompted a steady stream of calls and thousands of hits on the website, he said.

The “steady stream” is so low he doesn’t even quote numbers? How many of those were hoaxes? Has anyone at all been convinced by this exercise? Even better I like “thousands of hits on the website”. That would be this hideous flash-only monstrosity (you have to wait for the bastard to load so be patient with the white screen). How many of those hits were from blogs and other online media mocking the campaign? It takes RiotACT about 1,500 page views to make a dollar in ad revenue, how many thousands of views (let alone the more spurious “hits”) will translate into anyone at all moving here?
