Luxury aged care facilities opened

By 14 May 2008 6

Australia Aging Agenda online is reporting that Canberra’s first ‘luxury’ aged care home has been officially opened by the Minister for Ageing, Justine Elliot and the ACT Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope.

The $29 million Goodwin House was developed by Goodwin Aged Care Services to provide a new style of aged care accommodation for older people in the nation’s capital and will provide low care, high care dementia-specific and respite accommodation services to over 100 people.

The home is a modern, environmentally sustainable facility that aims to provide residents with quality care in an environment more like a hotel than a hospital.

Given an aging population this is good to see and i hope the ACT government, no matter what side of polics they come from, follow this lead and supply more quality aged care facilities.

Great! More cars driving around Ainslie banging into and off the gutter or otherwise doing 10km/h with a floral dress hanging out the bottom of the door frame while reversing over people having a beer at Edgars or taking 20 mins to parallel park out the front of the Ainslie Football Club and winning all the meat trays despite not having any teeth to eat them with.

I’m not sure how to to take that comment LB, not sure if it’s a humerous pi$$take or you are serious…I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and have a chuckle.
