Lyons and Calwell burns

This weekend, the ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct two hazard reduction burns in the ACT, weather permitting.

Tomorrow, Saturday 19th May, 2012, a hazard reduction burn will be conducted at Lyons, in the Oakey Hill reserve between Heysen street and Hindmarsh drive. The burn will commence from 11am till 6pm.

Two heavy tankers, two medium tankers, one light unit, a command vehicle and 20 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 7 hectares in size.

The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J13.

On Sunday 20th May, 2012, the ACT Rural Fire Service will conduct a hazard reduction burn, at Calwell, on Calwell Hill, near O’Connor Circuit from 11am till 6pm.

Six heavy tankers, a command vehicle and 30 personnel will conduct the burn covering a total area of approx 4.9 hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is K15.
