Knowing how much so many of you like a deal on a burrito I thought I’d better pass this on:

MAD MEX BRINGS AUTHENTIC MEXICAN CUISINE TO CANBERRA WITH FIRST ACT STORE!

Baja-style Mexican now on the menu for local residents – $5 Burritos available all day 15 and 16 November to celebrate!

If a trip to Mexico seems too far for Canberra residents, they may want to consider a quick drive to Belconnen instead. Further evidence of the Mexican food craze that’s sweeping across Australia, Mad Mex has opened their first ACT store in Belconnen yesterday, on Monday, 12 November. And to kick it all off, Mad Mex are running a $5 burrito special on 15 and 16 November for any burrito from their menu.*

Located inside The Fashion Mall on Level 3, of Westfield Belconnen, Canberra’s new Mad Mex store will provide local residents with fresh and healthy Mexican menu choices made with authentic ingredients and spices – many of which are directly imported into Australia from Mexico. Traditional Mexican menu items such as black beans, slow roasted meats and salsas made from scratch using fresh produce, reflect Mad Mex’s commitment to authentic Mexican cuisine.

With 30 stores across Australia, and plans for more by the end of 2012, Mad Mex’s success reflects a changing food landscape.

Mad Mex founder Clovis Young commented, “Australian food culture is undergoing exciting changes at the moment with Latin influences shaping the dining landscape. At the same time customers are demanding better value, less pretense and have higher expectations around speed of service of healthy options.

We hope that Belconnen locals take to Mad Mex just as Mad Mex fans in Darlinghurst have, voting us Australia’s Favourite Mexican in the I Love Food Awards,” added Young.

In addition to their focus on healthy, Baja-style cooking, Mad Mex has also unveiled a nutritional calculator which enables customers to customise menu options to suit individual dietary needs. Available online (www.madmex.com.au) and optimised for smart phones, the nutritional calculator measures saturated fat, calories, kilojoules, sugar, protein and carbohydrates as customers build their ideal meal in-store.

Love how every new Mexican restaurant that comes to town is “authentic Mmexican.” So far none of them have been anything like the food I ate in Mexico. I will give this place in Belco a go though just in case.
