Majura Park gas leak scare

ACT Fire & Rescue are on scene at the Majura Park Shopping centre, Lancaster Drive, Majura, investigating a suspected gas leak.

The building, including BIG W has been evacuated as a precaution.

Three fire pumpers on scene with the Hazardous Materials unit, Breathing Apparatus Van and a Command Officer. Aviation Rescue Firefighting Service also on scene.

ACT Fire & Rescue confirm no gas leak.

ACT Fire & Rescue are releasing some units from the scene. Some crews will remain on scene to investgate the odour from possibly the drains or another source.

Shoppers have been permitted to return to the area.

ACT Fire & Rescue treated one patient with oxygen prior to arrival by the ACT Ambulance Service. The patient did not require transport to hospital.

ACT Fire & Rescue has departed the scene.

Capital Airport Group plumbers will investigate the odour.

Interesting. Something similar happens over at the Majura Park Offices too, or used to until enough tenants complained. It was gassy, but sewer-y, and seemed to be set off by the sun hitting something at the same time of day.

I have noticed a foul sewer-like stench over near the northen entrance to the woolies building, but not recently.
