Man arrested over shooting in Holt

ACT Policing have arrested a 26-year-old man over the shooting of another man in the leg in an apartment complex in Holt shortly before 8.15pm last night.

The victim was treated at The Canberra Hospital. His alleged attacker was arrested soon after the incident and taken to the ACT Watch House. Police will oppose bail when he appears in the ACT Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene at about 8.15pm and located and arrested the alleged shooter soon after. A search of his residence led to the seizure of the firearm used in the shooting and 230 rounds of ammunition.

The accused man will be charged with Intention to Inflict Grievous Bodily Harm and firearm offences.

Investigations are ongoing and police urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to them to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or act.crimestoppers.com.au.
