Mark McCabe gets another five years as Work Safety Commissioner

Simon Corbell has announced that he’s giving another five years to Mark McCabe as the Work Safety Commissioner and Senior Director of WorkSafe ACT.

“Mr McCabe has significant experience in workplace safety and has worked in roles in both the ACT and with Comcare, and brings a strong passion for workplace safety.

“Mr McCabe, was first appointed as the Work Safety Commissioner in February 2008, and has successfully raised the profile of work place safety in the ACT since then.”

The Work Safety Commissioner is responsible for promoting an understanding of work place safety.

Following the creation of WorkSafe ACT last year, the Commissioner also took on the position of Senior Director of WorkSafe ACT in May, 2009, and was appointed to the position six months later.

In this position, Mr McCabe is responsible for ensuring that people are complying with work safety and workers compensation laws.
