This in from ACT Policing:

ACT Policing advises that Lake Burley Griffin will remain closed until further notice due to the danger posed by debris and strong currents.

This follows earlier advice from ACT Health that the water in the lake is also contaminated with sewage.

Police would also urge people to stay clear of all drains and fast-moving waterways, and to be aware that some roads may be flooded or temporarily closed.

The police phoned all the Primary Schools in my area with the message for the kids to stay away from the waterways during the floods. Sad that this needs to be said to the larger community. “Jump or fall in and you might be in danger”.
