The Fuelers are one off the most exciting and energetic rockabilly acts in Australia, where humour and musical mastery meet to give you a night of turbo-charged entertainment that will have you wanting to dance in your seat, the aisles or anywhere you can.

Kool jazzy blues grooves. DJ Gosper fronts this appetising trio (the Karizmakats) with velvet vocals and tasty blues-harp playing. Kev Austin and Christo Carlsen create a rhythmic reverie with percussion, acoustic guitar and vocal harmonies. DJ is one of Australia ’s hottest Blues harp players and has a voice of a Blues Diva.

Friday 28 September at The Merry Muse, Polish White Eagle Club, David Street, Turner. Doors 6.30pm, support 8pm, main act 9pm. $15/$12.

The “schism” is regrettable. I don’t have the full facts so I won’t pass comment.

I will, however, sign up 100% to your comment: “If it results in two strong acoustic venues, that’d be the best outcome.”

It’s what I’d like to see. I reckon Canberra’s big enough, ugly enough, and geographically-dispesed enough to warrant two folk clubs with similar-ish aims.

I know I’ll be going to Billy’s new venue (‘The Folkus Room’) as time and interest in the acts permits.

I personally wish him, his crew, and his supporters nothing but the best.

Folk’s gotta be the winner out of all this, and my personal crusade is to preach to the converted and unconverted. That includes telling friends and strangers occasionally what’s going on at Billy’s new place. (That’s MY personal thing, by the by, and NOT done on behalf of the Muse’s owners, the Monaro Folk Society — http://www.monarofolk.org.au)

Any update on the MM vs Bill schism? If it results in two strong acoustic venues, that’d be the best outcome.
