More airport road changes

A warning to people travelling to Queanbeyan or the coast to take care going past the airport. You now have to go over the new overpass and things are quite different.

Travellers to the airport need to stay in the left lane as the turnoff is easy to miss.

Also, new lights have been put in at the corner of Glenora Drive and Pialligo Ave past Brindabella Park; last night this really slowed east-bound traffic down.

Hang on, I thought one ALWAYS had to be in the left to turn left into the airport….

When turning from the roundabout at the old entrance, but now you need to be in the left lane at the roundabout before, the one at the entrance to Pialligo.

Yes, next to Jim Murphy’s, they’ve had a big banner about Mother Nature’s opening up there soon. Taht should be good, if they ever get around to it. I go to the Qbn shop quite a lot. You can get non-chinese garlic there.

Talking about speed limits – the airport road used to be 80, but the limit over the bridge is 60 despite the traffic not having to negotiate a roundabout and merge in the middle any more. I’d hoped it was just because of one lane being used for traffic going the wrong way.

“Canberra’s largest fresh food supermarket.” is going to be at the second airport business park too, according to http://www.canberraairport.com.au/air_property/majura.cfm

Yep, Snow wants his new land (used to be our land, the people) for his new carpark… more moneeeeee. And since they’ve built office buildings at the old Fairbairn, yep we got new traffic lights so they can get out of Fairbairn without running the gauntlet. There’s already been some big stacks there. That road used to be 100 kms there. Nevermore.

Going over the bridge is cool, especially if you’re going towards Queanbeyan as traffic is in the “wrong” lane, only two of the four lanes are in operation at the moment.

The old road is being ripped up, so Snow’s Operation Land Grab is nearing fruition.

If you miss the terminal turnoff you can go over the bridgey bit and turn left into Brindabella Park, and get into the airport that way.

Most Canberrans are going to miss their turn off then!
