Territory and Municipal Services are celebrating the catching of three more miscreants dumping around Gungahlin’s charity bins:
City Rangers issued another three on-the-spot fines to people for illegally dumping rubbish around charity bins in Gungahlin on the weekend.
The blitz took place following two others that have taken place earlier this month which have fined a total of nine people for illegal dumping.
“While most people were again observed to be doing the right thing, three people were fined for illegal dumping,” said Peter Dinan, Acting Senior Manager, Licensing and Compliance.
To fix the problem of illegal dumping, the government should provide more facilities.
The facilities are there – people are just lazy.
While I’m eternally grateful that something is being done about this in Gungahlin, I don’t suppose they’ll extend this crackdown to all the other illegal dumping sites around the area? Maybe they’ll just fence them off like the one on Anthony-Rolfe.

You can fill your house with crap that you carry in, but the gummint should take it away ?
Lazy.
Fithy.
Scum.
Paying the fine is probably cheaper and less effort than taking their trash to the tip!

When people dump old TVs I kinda understand it. The fee to dump them is a lot. The people are still scum, but it makes sense.
Most of crap I see beside the charity bins is stuff that will fit, and can be, nay is supposed to be, put into the standard household wheelie bin. If the bin is full that week, they could keep it ’til next week, or put it in their neighbours bin. But no, for reasons unbeknownst to humanity, they dump it where it will cause the most inconvenience to society.

What, so those facilities can be abused also, but this time at tax payers expense? Awesome idea.

“…undertaken earlier this month at Gungahlin town centre, Tuggeranong Hyperdome and Kippax Centre…”
(from an earlier press release)
Its Gungahlin….who cares? It might even give the place some character.

That is all.

What sort of facilities are you refering to? I must admit my family and I are fairly rampant consumers, but we have never found the need to dump anything around a charity bin, on the street, or in any public place. There are ample methods of recycling or disposal readily available.
I don’t understand what facilities will fix Bogan Laziness Syndrome.
Happy to be corrected if you have a reasonable suggestion.

Is it the fact that my comment is the truth or that you live in Gungahlin or both?
Kurva said :
Yep, out and out troll. Not a particularly subtle or clever one at that.

Yep, gotta try harder than that. Where are the intelligent trolls? How come we only get the thick lazy ones?

Glad to hear it, but I meant all the other piles of mostly building waste dumped in the Gungahlin area, one of which doubled in size between the time I reported it and the time “action” was taken. I say “action” because all they did was fence the area and put up signs that might have well said “Dump your crap here”. The pile keeps growing.
