More slack work in court

The ABC has the alarming news that Predrag Markovic has beaten a charge of driving while disqualified because the paperwork never said when his disqualification would end.

Acting Justice Nield wasn’t going to award him costs with it though:

When his lawyer asked for the prosecution to pay his client’s costs, acting Justice Nield said Markovic’s Christmas had come early because if he had been charged for driving without a licence, he would have been found guilty.

Hopefully ACT Policing can sort out their again faulty processes.

His licence was suspended six years ago, perhaps he just thought it was back. You’d think after six years you’d pop down to a Canberra Connect shopfront or something though.

That is crazy. They find him not guilty but then do not pay out any costs thus proving he is guilty of something……what a waste of time.

could have been guilty, if he’d been charged.

Yes, there’s a real flood of these sorts of things happening
