Mr. Stanhope apologises for doing his own leaking

As the Summernats sagas grow ever more lurid the Chief Minister has put his hand up to a bit of media manipulation.

We had wondered just how a handy treasury minute on Summernats finances had found its way into the hands of media.

It turns out Mr Stanhope left it behind for them after a media conference.

He has very graciously accepted “full responsibility” for his actions which, as it happenned, applied pressure exactly where he wanted it.

Still, it’s not the sort of trick you can pull every day is it?

How long would be a decent period to wait before trying it again? Six months? Two years?

I don’t know, some places actually respect that whole “Calling a spade a spade” mentality.

Unbelievable… Just unbelievable…

Really Thumper?

What I find unbelievable (if one is to believe the Summernats explanations) is that someone in Treasury didn’t completely research reasoning behind the payments. Not a good career move to make your boss look like a twit.

But I bet he’ll never ‘accidentally’ leave anything relating to the 2003 Bushfires lying around for the media to ‘find’ though….. 😉

You don’t think the fire did it?

Stan expects us ALL to swallow…

Was the ‘apology’ tongue in cheek or hugely cynical to think that anyone would believe it?

While I approve of Stanhope’s decision, surely he can’t expect anyone to swallow this story.

Yeah I saw his apology on the news last night. You can tell that it was 100% intentional. They are both massive knob heads. The ACT would be better off without Summernats and Stanhope. Can’t they do a deal to piss ’em both off to Sydney?
