What should I spy this morning but new art just off Marcus Clarke Street?

With an empty plaque it’s a bit tricky but I think I’ve got this.
Rising up from the bedrock of Australia a gleaming modern edifice holds up a mass of humanity.
Standing atop this mass is a privileged elite making offerings to the empty sky.
The plaque lies empty because this artwork is all of us, and all that surrounds us.
I am willing to contribute $50 to getting that actually made into a plaque and installed.
Dont know about the “art” but I am figuring the plaque is bare while they run the necessary spell check over it to make sure this

doesn’t happen again. Though maybe the privielged elite standing on the top are looking to be launched off the rest of the mass of seething humanity.

Agree! Poetic, abstract, suitably obscure and pretentious. I think you might have missed your calling johnboy…
I like the globe, that’s pretty damn good, not so sure about the giant peg
“Latin American Plaza”

ACT Government.

A bit of history might help.
The latin american countries went to the NCA and asked for some space that they could turn into a plaza where they could gatre to celebrate various national days etc. In exchange they would provide funding and artwork for the spacve. the NCA could not find a place and the ACT government agreed to provide the little pocket park at the end of Childers street for this use.
That gesture has resulted in a rather barren and neglected place being turned into something special.
Is there anything wrong or disappointing with that?

Unbolivarable reading! It’s about freedom resting on the shoulders of us all, and you know it. Want to bet the word ‘village’ is *not* used in the description?
Unless, just perhaps, you’re right, and Gina Rinehart is contributing a poem and it’s all about the unnatural restraint (peg or vice-like) placed on her importing poor people from, say, Nicaragua, to dig up Australian minerals at cut-price rates? But I don’t think she writes haiku, and that’s quite a small plaque.
One can but hope.
I’ve got it pegged: inspired by Mad Max beyond thunderdome!
I don’t know what it is but I like it. I do actually, must wander down and take a look sometime.
