New faction in ACT Labor?

Word of the CPSU affiliating with the ACT Labor Party has seen the Impartiality/Union Membership debate revived.

This will surely put public servants in an awkward position.

Lastnight the CPSU stated that although they are a left union, they will not be joing the powerful ACT Left faction.

What is the story here?

Who is leading this new grouping and what do they want that the ACT Left cannot give them?

Is it a co-incidence that Bob McMullan is defending his seat at the moment?

Stay tuned!!

I would prefer they stayed independent too. And I’m also a little confused here,if they are left but not joining the left, doesnt that mean it is really just a massive stack for a particular person to get pre selected? How does preselection / delegate system work in the ALP? And who is driving the affiliation, did I miss a post?

I would prefer they stayed independent – I rely on them to keep them ALL honest and represent their MEMBERS. I am so incredibly dissatisfied with ACT Labor at present, I would prefer they didn’t get contaminated.

One member here they’ll lose if they affiliate…

They’re not affiliating for all their members in the ACT, just 9,000 or so.

Are these factions something that people have to officially join? Because I usually think of a faction as being a much less formally structured subgroup?

Another faction for ACT Labour is like saying there’s steaming great turd with a slightly diferent stench.

Well, they’ve already got the shithouse faction and the completely useless faction – how many more factions can ACT Labor support?
