Nightfest tickets on sale

Tickets have gone on sale for NightFest.

If you’ve come in late you might be surprised that NightFest is not a new goth night at The Basement.

It is in fact the ticketed and bonus value added component of the flower display on steroids that is Floriade.

After its popular debut last year (where it lost money despite being over capacity in a piece of rare genius) it’s coming back bigger and better, from 23 September to 27 September.

Indeed the breakout on their page promises “SO POPULAR WE’VE ADDED MORE ENTERTAINMENT”. Which seems like an off way to go about meeting demand.

Anyway, a lot of people really liked it last year, and there’s a good chance it will sell out this year, so it might well be worth getting in early and picking up a ticket.

UPDATE: Andrew Barr is exhorting you all to get in early.

i still harbour fond fond memories of when floriade was simply open as was the rest of commonwealth park, and warm spring evenings strolling about the heady hyacinth-scented arrays after an evening in civic was bliss. it was almost empty, especially at one or two in the morning. nice.

Me too. The first year of Floriade, I forgot to go, so one night heading home from work in the dark, I parked and wandered in. It was warm, very dark, the perfume of the flowers was just incredible and it’s my favourite memory of Floriade.

waht a shame it’s all become like a flower-themed fun park.

Yeah the lighting was terrible; it went straight into your eyes and made the non-illuminated paths hard to see.

I didn’t like how I was charged an extra 33% on my ticket to pick it up at Floriade either.

Lotus lounge? isn’t that an adult club in sydney?

I only heard bad things about last year’s Floriade Nightfest.

Mainly, that the lighting was poor, the entertainment a little lacking, and the sound too poor and the screens too small for the movies.

Most of all. though, I heard complaints about how badly the flower beds were illuminated…which is surely the main attraction at Floriade, day or night.

nightfest was awesome, i had a great time last year – will definitely be going again!

I hope they fix the issues they had with it last year…

Better ticket management would be a good start!
