Not Cyclists again! (and boot camps)

By 14 February, 2013 28

Nope! Well. it has been a day without a new cycling related thread!

How about those masses of Boot Camp joggers on the cycle paths!

I like to go for an early morning ride arounds the lake, armed with my hooter and bell of course.

Of late, there have beem teeming masses of joggers, jogging in a group 3-4 abreast who get quite indignant that they should consider moving over and actually share the path.

I tips me lid to them for their endeavours but there are a few arrogant wankers amongst them!

That is inconsiderate. Though as a fairly serious runner, it annoys me no end when I am running around the western loop, staying as far to the left of the path as possible, and still have cyclists make disparaging comments as they fly past about me being in the way.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that cyclists only ever seem to have the guts to talk down to folks when they’re in a position to ride away really fast.

What CrocodileGandhi said.

Also, I find some irony where cars traveling at a faster speed on the road, have to share the road & slow down to move around cyclists (& fair enough too). However, on footpaths/bike paths, most cyclists feel that people on foot should move out of the way for them.

Completely hogging a footpath is inconsiderate but cyclists shouldn’t have any issue with having to slow down & move around pedestrians or anyone moving slower then them on a footpath.

In any given week, i ride a push bike or motorbike to work and go jogging at lunch. In my experience, there is a lot more rudeness in the spandex cycling brigade, so i don’t think you will get much sympathy from me.

The roads are very quiet at the time in morning so maybe you should avoid the boot camp fad for a while and stick to the roads. It will go the way of Tai-bo and Zumba soon enough. Don’t worry.

F HOOTERS!

Sorry I got distracted.

Got ham, why can’t everyone get along.

Honestly, as I said before, way too many self entitled assholes in this town.

Why not everyone follow rules and show some decent courtesy?

The personal trainers expropriating the commons for their businesses is becoming a bigger problem.

Yeah hooters tend to distract me, especially those of the joggers. Gotta struggle to keep my eyes on the road sometimes. I reckon they could explain a lot of the multi-car pileups that occur on Cth ave bridge sometimes.

Dunno about Fs though – Cs and Ds are plenty for me.

I have often wondered what would happen if I just went over and joined in?

Too bad I’m such a busy person I have no time to find out.

You would have to be a fatty to blend in for a start.

The shared paths need to be much wider. Enough for 3 mummys pushing prams, 3 biddies with poodles, 1 dad and 2 toddlers on wonky bikes and even the occasional fitness class to fit on one side.

good call.

we can surface them in bitumen, paint lines down the center, and paint random bits green.

Hahaha! You really don’t have to scratch too far below the surface (12 posts in this case) to see that we haven’t evolved too far from the caveman!
“Gronk don’t like fast-moving wheeled person!”
Hahaha! Love it!

Oh, now we have cyclists complaining that walkers are hogging the path. Reminds me of a time when I had to slow down for riders hogging the road…

Oh, so busy! But you still manage to find time to read and post on Riotact all day. Ha!

Yes – Cyclists are all the spawn of satan. We are the worst people in the world. We love to kick puppies and pull tails of kittens – yadda yadda yadda.

This is getting old people.

In California the personal trainers are causing such a problem that they are about to get regulated. Including licensing fees as well as a proportional revenue fee.

Hope this doesn’t sound nasty, but with CGN’s alias, I can’t help but picture him as the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons! I can’t help it with that alias! :-) Hahaha!

Were the riders solid across both lanes? Don’t think I’ve ever seen that!

Yes, we must stamp out this blight on our society! How dare people try to get/stay healthy in a park at 6am! I was planning on having a picnic there then! hahaha!
What’s the natural enemy of the personal trainer? Perhaps we need to introduce that species to get their numbers under control…
Sigh, i’m not sure if this is comical or depressing.

This has been discussed in a previous thread. The arguments remain the same. I had a quick look for the thread but couldn’t find it.

Read the OP comments, KimF is not complaining about walkers but about the jogging Bootcampers hogging the path.

You’ll have to flesh out that connection a bit more for me. I don’t quite see how a group of people doing sit-ups and jogging equates to a franchise in a commercial building. It’s probably obvious but I didn’t get much sleep last night…

I can fix that.

I’ve been lucky not to collide with a powerwalker and a runner who, on separate occasions, reached their secret spot and made a U turn with absolutely no warning what so ever.

That happened once to me too. I don’t know who was more startled.
