The Canberra Times reports that, two years after the Vardon report found that the ACT’s child protection services were failing children, nothing seems to have changed.
Katy Gallagher has a new report and has made new recommendations.
KG told the Assembly there had been a total of 5 deaths involving children who had contact with welfare/child protection authorities. Rumour has it that is a gross underestimate and that public servants are protecting the Minister. The figure is said to be at least double the number the Minister quoted. No doubt the public servants in KG’s department will redefine the statistics to keep the numbers low.
Readign the report : ” “It is alarming that similar recommendations are being raised again, 212 years later,” she said.”
wow 212 years…
hmmm… is this the same Minister that is still not responsible for her Department’s (in)action?
Oh Katy’s looking into it; well everything will be all okay then.
Quick Katy, time to pass the buck – er, portfolio – to someone else, like you did with Education, wouldn’t you say? (and wow, look at Education now!)
Katy will soon run out of portfolios at this rate.
maybe its time she became the CM and then she can be not responsible for anything.
