The AFP have announced two more arrests over the Hughes drug execution:

ACT Policing has arrested two males over the shooting murder of Brendan Scott Welsh in Hughes on May 10.

At approximately 3.00pm today (August 11), police arrested and later charged a 24-year-old and 25-year-old male, both from Gowrie, after a complex and lengthy investigation.

Police were called to Whittle Street, Hughes around 12.30am on May 10 in response to a shooting incident. The victim, Mr Welsh, was shot in the chest at close range as he sat in the front seat of a Hyundai sedan. He received emergency treatment at the scene by ACT Ambulance but later died.

Only two days after the shooting (May 12), ACT Policing arrested a 20-year-old man, who is currently being held in custody, in relation to the fatal shooting. Police believed other persons were involved in the shooting.

“The arrests are the culmination of an intensive police investigation, codenamed Operation Taransay, which has spanned three months and has resulted in these arrests,” Deputy Chief Police Officer David McLean said.

“We would also like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this case,” he said.

Both men will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday, August 12), charged with Murder.

UPDATE: The Canberra Times has the Names of the accused:

Kai Yuen, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charge, while Todd Elphick, 24 did not enter a plea.

Elphick was also charged with threatening someone against cooperating with the police investigation.

The men, both from Gowrie, were remanded in custody to appear in court again next month.
