Come and join us at the Academy of Science for our public lecture series, Science stars of tomorrow.

This month: Pain in the brain: the overlap between physical, social and empathy for pain.

“Only time can heal your broken heart, just as only time can heal his broken arms and legs.” – Miss Piggy

When we think about pain, we typically think of a physical injury, like breaking a leg. Yet, like Miss Piggy describes, there are a number of instances where our emotional experiences can result in actual pain.

Dr Bernadette Fitzgibbon will discuss how our brain processes these types of pain and how they may be linked to the same brain processes as when we hurt ourselves

When: Tuesday 9 June 2015
Time: Refreshments from 5.30pm; lecture and live streaming from 6pm
Where: The Shine Dome, Gordon St, Acton
