Parking Infringement …. Help!!

Posted By tuneman On 1 June, 2011 @ 8:56 am In Ask RiotACT,Transport | 31 Comments

At the end of a 1/2P bays on Hibberson St in Gungahlin, the bay nearest to Ernest Cavanagh St has at some point been switched to a no-stopping zone.  The markings on the road are still visible from where it was a timed bay. Admittedly, there is a no stopping sign (which I didn’t see) and was therefore delighted to come back to a $174 infringment notice.

Within the area, and notably on the same street, any variations to the parking restrictions (such as loading bays, disabled spaces etc) are all differentiated from the timed zones (with yellow marked bays etc) so to have a time restricted marked bay still visible on the road which is actually now permitted as a ‘no stopping area’ is both confusing and contradictory.

I wrote to ‘parking review’ with pictures and that have decided not to withdraw the infringment notice.  I’m left therefore to decide whether to go to a magistrate or pay the fine… just not sure what to do?  Any advice, experience shared greatly appreciated!
