Chief Minister Gallagher has the happy news that the Director-General of ACT Health, Dr Peggy Brown, has won the 2013 Margaret Tobin Award.

The Margaret Tobin Award was established in 2003, as a tribute to the memory of Dr Margaret Tobin and is made to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Fellow who has made the most significant contribution to administrative psychiatry in Australian and New Zealand over the preceding five years.

“I congratulate Dr Brown on her achievement and for gaining the recognition from her peers for the hard work she does in administrative psychiatry; her contributions of international repute, as well as the importance of her work to the field of study,” the Chief Minister said.

Having worked for ACT Health for about 6 years I found that the quality of their senior management quite dreadful – a lot worse than the APS and worse than the rest of the ACT public service. I reckon your average SES in ACT Health would be a Class 6 in the APS

If you ever have to attend ED at Canberra Hospital whatever you do DON”T identify yourself as Affirmative Action man or the outcome might not be good.

is she a relative to Katy too?

They’re all sisters in this town.

As I understood the state of mental health resources in the Territory, more psychiatrists were needed at the coal face, not keeping a chairs warm. Guess I was wrong again.

It is a pity though she continues to lead a Directorate plagued by Executive who use bully tactics, micro management and over reporting requests of staff with ridiculous short timeframes.
