The ABC reports that Peter Clarke has after a decade on the run, been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment with a seven year non parole period.

As usual with punishment, it’s always better to get it over with as soon as possible.

I see there are no comments about the punishment this guy received. No whinging about how crap the judicial system is ??? Didn’t someone comment that because he suffered from anxiety he would get 3 months community service instead of 2 ?? Gallop, the hangman….

Probably because the outrage only comes out when people believe the sentence is inadequate, or when a particular judge falls asleep during a murder trial (more than once)…

It seems entirely reasonable to me that there have been no comments to that effect, as technically, neither the verdict or sentence were a product of the current judiciary. They had to wheel out a retiree to do the job properly for them. Happy now?
