They are now able to stay in Australia despite the medical costs their autistic son will incur.
In this case the son was literally a poster child for disabilites in Australia having been used in a government calendar.

That is fair comment. And our mental health system is stuffed that it is almost pointless.
Then again, its about time the Walking Beard actually did something, as opposed to just saying reasonable things and appearing very sympathetic and reasonable on TV interviews.
To me, this is where the laws and red tape BS got bypassed and disregarded for a good result. Political stunt, moral fashion show, popularity contest, whatever. It’s more important that an autistic kid got a better chance.
Totally agree with you on that score as it is a good result. And yet the other points are quite salient.
