Simon Corbell has announced the start of a Master Plan for the Weston Group Centre (Cooleman Court to the likes of you and me).

“The community’s knowledge about the centre and ideas for its future are important to us as we develop a master plan that will guide the centre’s development over the next 20 to 30 years,” Mr Corbell said.

“The community will have the opportunity to be involved throughout the master plan preparation process that begins this week with the collection of initial ideas for a vision for the centre.

“The Weston Group Centre, which includes Cooleman Court, is an iconic Canberra shopping centre and one that is highly regarded by the residents of Weston Creek and wider Canberra.

“We want to capture what is unique and valued about the Centre and match it with best practice planning. We aim to improve the Centre while meeting development pressures as a result of increasing population, changing demographics and climate change.”

Mr Corbell encouraged anyone with an interest in the Centre to take part in the various engagement opportunities.

Didn’t they just finish a refurb on Cooleman Court? I would have assumed that was part of a bigger plan for the entire area anyway. Maybe it was a trial run.

I would have thought the refurb of Cooleman Court itself would have been done by the company that owns it, whereas this master plan is more a direction for the entire area.
