Police activity in Dickson

There appears to be some major police activity in Dickson. Several police cars, fire engines and ambulances surrounding a badly damaged vehicle opposite the McDonald’s Drive Through at the corner or Dickson Place and Badham Street.

The end result of a car chase?

maybe there was a duck in the tree?

Thanks Al. I missed most of the debacle but I am starting to see more clearly now. Like you I findthe banter between these idiots quite entertaining.

Well one thing is for sure; they were not there doing anything about people exiting the driveway contrary to the “left turn only” sign. While the plods munch away on their cut price feed, the plebs try to hurt each other.

All this talk about Hamburglar made me think of this cartoon

The cartoonist by the way is a Canberran. The Lego gag is pure gold too

“Adults then decide what is or isn’t important or worthy of further enquiry and move on”

Well I got some good laughs at the start of this thread, then it all went down hill when people all got so blinking serious and carried away with themselves.
But then it got funny again when our resident boy in blue actually (almost) said [cue deep voice] “Nothing to see here, move along”!

so we can do all the important things, like licking windows and scratching our nether regions

I prefer to scratch windows and lick my nether regions, but I’m funny (and flexible) like that.

F–k.

VG’s on the ball here, let the boys and girls in blue do their job so we can do all the important things, like licking windows and scratching our nether regions.

Apologies for the italics.

I apologise Jazz, but I get fed up with clowns like VG thinking that by stirring the pot, they’re actually contributing. Fact of the matter is that someone asked a valid question and got bombarded by stupidy and rudeness. This is what makes new users sign up, ask a question and then leave therefore slowly killing the site until it’s run by VG and every question is a political or sports one. There’s other stuff happening in Canberra ya know champ?

Say the cops and firey’s were there for a bomb threat or a shooting, would it then qualify as news? Swissbignose was unsure of what happened and decided to ask. There was no need for the rudeness he/she got back.

[Ed. (Jazz) apology accepted, If i think its way out of hand i’ll wave my magic moderator stick and edit/delete stuff]

I for one am interested, despite whether certain people disagree. People are curious, thats nothing new.

^^
…and that local sporting team??

So… how bout that weather…

Not half the shit that’s here that’s for sure

The pettiness of some people’s lives, as well as their judgement of what or what isn’t a run of the mill thing, makes staying silent about the crap very hard.

That and the pleasure I take seeing people like yourselves have your eyes roll back in your head for the feeding frenzy when I point it out makes the day go that little bit quicker.

How about local politics, actual big news, sport. Not absolute piffle like this. We all see many things on a daily basis that are curious or pique the interest for a millisecond. Adults then decide what is or isn’t important or worthy of further enquiry and move on

There is ‘news’ and there is stuff that happens on numerous occasions every single day (such as the above).

Its not a local event, its a car prang FFS, about 3000 a year in Canberra from memory

Is it possible you could actually provide anything constructive to anything on RiotACT, VG?
Please, I’m dying to know what, if any, news you feel would be worthy of discussion.

Come to think of it: Jazz, can you please make VG Chief Moderator? That’d stop all of these pointless threads about run-of-the-mill everyday occurances!

[Ed. (Jazz) Ahh, no]

I shudder to think who could be driving so fast that they came to such grief that so many emergency services were required, surely that area is pretty busy of an evening with both vehicles and pedestrians? If as suggested the car was in the carpark, god help us!Its bloody crazy out there sometimes.

…which is similar to the conclusion Swiss made.

If local events in Canberra aren’t worthy subjects…exactly what do you want us to talk about VG?

or…..and this is a big logical leap, try this one

ring 62567777 and ask if the Police can tell you what’s going on at whatever place. If they can tell you they will, if not its none of your concern.

“I dunno what was going on, looked pretty serious though. I counted 4 cop cars, 2 fire trucks, 2 ambulances and a car in a tree. Looks like the car was actually in the car park and decided that not turning was a great option.”

My 3yo niece could workout that that would be a…….car accident maybe

Deadmandrinking10:59 am 03 Jul 08

Hope he/she’s okay though.

You do realise there are always cadets going through the academy and quite often they are out on the road in groups learning the ropes.

Please go back to your allotted unit and continue your allotted tasks, citizen.

Someone was trying to do an Aussie version of ‘Upsize Me’ and they got a bit carried away, exploded and the damaged car was all that was remaining.

bigfeet…. yes.

Near the McDonalds drive-thru? Maybe they finally got that bloody Hamburglar.

About time too. I reported him to the AFP and they did nothing.

His fatal mistake was to leave Hamburgling and become the Doughnuturgler. He was doomed from that moment.

Let that be a warning to you all! Don’t get in the way of the cops, Ambos or firies when its dinner time at Maccas!

When I was a 15 year old (almost a quarter of a century ago) working at Maccas, the cops, fire brigade and ambos got half price everything. Is that still the case?

Let that be a warning to you all! Don’t get in the way of the cops, Ambos or firies when its dinner time at Maccas!

Niko Bellic?

This is a stab in the dark here but… possibly… could it just be your tax dollars being used to help a member of the public in a situation that you’ll hopefully never have to face?

Near the McDonalds drive-thru? Maybe they finally got that bloody Hamburglar.

About time too. I reported him to the AFP and they did nothing. Like they always do.

At about 2.33pm I saw 4 police cars parked at Belconnen Police Station. Does anyone know what was going on?

Maybe martians came down and landed on the car?
