ACT Policing is investigating a two-vehicle collision in Calwell yesterday morning (Friday 25 December) in which a female driver has died.

About 11.00am, police responded to a report of a collision on Outtrim Avenue, Calwell. ACT Ambulance Service attended and transported the female driver to The Canberra Hospital, where she later died.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team (CIRT) are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The driver and three passengers of the second vehicle received medical treatment.

While police are noting this as the 14th fatality on Canberra’s roads this year, a determination is yet to be made as to whether this was a road fatality or the result of an unrelated medical condition. This will be a matter for the coroner.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via https://act.crimestoppers.com.au.
