Police investigate fatal collision in Royalla

ACT Policing are investigating a three-vehicle collision in Royalla this afternoon (Saturday 28 November) in which a motorcyclist has died.

About 5.20pm, police received a report of a collision involving three motorcycles on the Monaro Highway, Royalla. The collision occurred approximately five kilometers south of the intersection with the Monaro Highway and Old Cooma Road. A 65-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene as a result of the collision.

ACT Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported three people to The Canberra Hospital for medical treatment. Two motorcyclists and one passenger sustained serious, non-life-threatening, injuries.

ACT Policing’s Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Team are investigating the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

The Monaro Highway has been closed in both directions while emergency services are at the scene. The highway will remain closed for at least a further four hours. Vehicles are being diverted through Williamsdale. ACT Policing asks that motorists avoid the area and appreciate the patience of the community during this time.
This is the 11th person to have died on ACT Roads this year.
