ACT Policing is investigating an aggravated robbery which occurred at the Yarralumla shops this morning (Thursday, August 15).

Around 6.30am a man wearing a balaclava entered the Beess & Co cafe and threatened staff members with a weapon.

He tied up the three staff members and took a sum of cash.

He left through the back door of the premises and ran towards Novar St.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, slim build approximately 6’ (183cm) tall and aged in his 30s. He was wearing dark clothing, light coloured sneakers and a balaclava.

ACT Policing is asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man matching the above description to contact Police Operations on 131 444.

I’ve just been told that the lowlife pointed a large gun, either a shotgun or rifle, at the faces of the kitchen staff, tied them up with black zip ties and threw bleach on them for good measure. Charming fellow..

Told? By whom? You really should curb your fantasist tendencies

Not to worry. I’m sure it will turn out to be a sad, disturbed individual let down by the system, who wouldn’t hurt a fly.

The early morning timing did puzzle me – suggests the culprit had good reason to believe that there would already be a very worthwhile sum of money on the premises (something which might generally be expected at 6.30pm, not 6.30am)

As I recall there are mostly woman working in that kitchen and to tie them up makes this lowlife an extra special POS!
