One man has been arrested and two others summonsed in relation to a police investigation into reports of female sex workers being the victim of violent sexual assaults and robberies.

ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) yesterday executed a search warrant resulting in the arrest of a 31-year-old Hawker man.

The man has been charged with attempted aggravated robbery, forcible confinement, sexual intercourse without consent and sexual assault. He will appear before the ACT Magistrates court this morning, where police will oppose bail.

A 23-year-old Florey man and a 21-year-old Kaleen man have also been summonsed and will appear before court at a later date.

Operation Sparren commenced in August this year following several reports of female sex workers in the ACT being victims of violent sexual assaults and robberies, and is ongoing.

Police are urging victims or anyone who has any further information to contact police on 131 444 or report via CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference Operation Sparren.
