Police seize guns after rifle reported stolen near Yass

NSW police are appealing for public assistance after a firearm was reported stolen from a rural property near Yass.

A man from Bookham, near Yass, contacted police to report the .223 Howa rifle had gone missing from an unlocked cupboard at his Hume Highway property between February 17 and 24.

Officers are now appealing for any person with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the gun to come forward.

Meanwhile, police suspended the 52-year-old man’s firearms licence and seized six other registered firearms from the property. Investigations into safe firearm storage are ongoing.
