Simon Corbell has put out this media release letting us all know that the ACT govt and ACT Policing have renewed their contract with each other. Some new high priority directions and more focus on KPI’s and we can all thank Simon that we are safe in our beds at night.

The only police I see are in Qbn. Lots of them there! I’m surprised the NSW gov’t didn’t try to get that contract. They could’ve sidelined a few of the Qbn people, and no one would notice the difference.

Numbers are dictated by the money the local council is prepared to spend. Fact is they are spending crapola and expecting heaps

I thought the govt said they were going to ask for actual police numbers in the ACT in this next agreement, rather than just KPIs and numbers of speeding fines etc.

Looks like they forgot.

Cameron, the answer is no.

After self government the status quo just stayed because ACT Govt is a glorified local council without the ability to set up a chicken raffle.

KPI is just an acronym for wankhole asslicking words they use to try to baffle ordinary people while giving themselves about the same amount of leeway as the turning circle of the Titanic.

Who gives a stuff I hear myself asking. I have my own expectations of what a police service is and ACA and TT quite sufficiently pick up any slack between the service I may receive and a ‘KPI’.

*** Disclaimer ***
I have never read the AFP KPI, nor do I ever intend to.

Forgive my ignorance, but has there ever been a serious look at establishing our own independent police force?

NSWPOL were asked a bit over 5 years ago. They weren’t interested, said that if they did it would cost a hell of a lot more than the ACT Govt is paying the AFP and they would run it all out of the one station ala your average NSW local area command (Parramatta, Sutherland etc)

I don’t think there’s anything in theory stopping us from outsourcing to NSWPOL or VICPOL instead, other than perhaps the reluntance of those organisations to take on the task.

Stupid question, but could the act government have any hand (nod to George Costanza), surely the fed cops can simply dictate what they will do and stuff the ACT?

Or is there the option for a private security firm or nsw cops to bid for the contract???
