1. Alleged ram raider brought to justice:

A 16-year-old male youth will appear in the ACT Children’s Court this morning (August 26) charged with attempted aggravated burglary, taking a motor vehicle without consent and minor theft.

This follows an incident at the Jamison Centre in Macquarie, on Wednesday, August 5, during which a stolen white Holden Commodore was used in an attempted ram-raid.

2. Flynn panic, part the first:

ACT Policing officers have this morning [27 August] attended a vehicle fire at George Simpson Park in Flynn.

At approximately 2.20am a plumbers courier van was found alight on the oval, located between Companion Crescent, Sanderson Close and Nulsen Circuit.

Due to the volatile nature of some of the materials found in the plumbers van an exclusion zone has been set around the vehicle and some homes along Nulsen Circuit have been evacuated as a precaution.

The nearby Flynn Pre School will also be closed this morning until further notice.

ACT Policing advises any members of the public that require further information to contact Police on 131 444.

3. Flynn part the second:

ACT Policing has concluded its cordon and containment of potentially explosive material at Flynn.

Police and ACT Fire Brigade attended a fire in a plumbers van at George Simpson Oval, Flynn around 2.20am today.

Due to the volatility of material inside the van, as a precaution police evacuated a number of nearby homes and the Flynn Preschool was closed.

The Officer in Charge of Belconnen Police Station, Sergeant Tanya Swift, extended her apologies to those members of the public who were inconvenienced by this incident and thanked them for their cooperation.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons or activity around a white van in the vicinity of George Simpson Oval in Flynn late last night or in the early hours of this morning to contact Crime Stoppers.

4. Thursday night’s allright for fighting:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an unprovoked attack on a 20-year-old man in Civic early this morning (August 28).

About 2.40am, police conducting foot patrols on East Row, Civic observed three males attack the male victim while he was seated on the roadside curb. The alleged offenders are unknown to the victim.

Two of the alleged offenders attempted to flee police but were apprehended a short time later; the third is unidentified at this time.

The two male alleged offenders, aged 19 and 20 years of age, were bailed from the ACT Regional Watch house and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on assault-related charges on a date to be fixed.

Police are appealing for any persons who may have witnessed the incident in East Row, or who may know the identity of the third male to contact Crime Stoppers.

If you can help police contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

“Two of the alleged offenders attempted to flee police but were apprehended a short time later; the third is unidentified at this time.”
So the third on didn’t flee?
We shut up a bit early on Thursday night as the tide of the evening felt like it was beggining to turn.
Any chance the CCTV in the interchange picked up an ID for the third punter?

“Alleged ram raider brought to justice”

I would have thought justice would involve the guilty party suffering some sort of penalty?

My mistake…
