Portrait of a Nation

As part of the Centenary, a site – portraitofanation.com.au – has been set up that includes a page for every suburb and street in Canberra. It invites residents of Canberra, or relatives of those for who the suburb or street is named – to research the history of that person and submit it online. You can upload text, PDF documents, images or link to YouTube videos.

I have an interest in roads and history so I’ve been adding quite a bit to the site, but I thought others might also be interested but not aware of the site.

An example is the suburb of Calwell, named after Arthur Calwell.

I’m also not quite sure of the etiquette of uploading information on a street that I’m not truly connected with…

Has anyone else been to the site?
