Reliable electrician needed

By 10 January, 2013 9

Hubby & I are hoping the hive mind can give us some information regarding a good, reliable electrician or even who to avoid.

We have a couple of ceiling fans we want installed and we would also like to have a couple of extra power points and track lighting installed.

We live in the Gungahlin area.

The related content shows a bit of prior discussion, but whoever you go for you should make sure that they are licenced, ACTPLA have a register here, http://www.actpla.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/23953/Electrician.pdf

Recommend Woods Electrical – http://www.woodselectrical.com.au (although site seems down at the moment)

Wish johnboy could sticky the following thread!

Good luck in getting one to turn up. When we had two ceiling fans and power points to install it took me about 6 phone calls to six businesses to get one mob to turn up. And even then, they charged $600 for an hour and a half of work and left all of their mess on the carpet, in the full knowledge that one of the bedrooms belonged to a child who still slept in a cot. The debris was plaster and nails etc. Unfortunately can’t recall their business name, but I think they were from Queanbeyan.

We have had great service over the years from Allan Marks at Powerhouse Electrical.

Recently when we had our kitchen renovations done, we had an electrician from Smart Energy (in Hume?) come out and do a fair bit of work for us. Was thrilled with the work they did and the service that they provided.

Supasparky is a Gungahlin local who did a couple of jobs for us last year. Vic turned up when he said he would, gave a reasonable quote, and did the job efficiently and well. Check out http://www.SupaSparkyElectrical.com.au, or give him a call on 0424 768 203.

I had a very surprising experience when getting a new siwtchboard installed recently. This chap was reccomended, turned up each time he said he would, very resonable priced (less than his quote) and cleaned up after himself. He will do well just on the number of people I have recommended to him who have had the same experience.

Harrington Electrical – 0402 – 681-751 I think he is based in Gunghalin?

I’ve used Steve Taylor Electrical for exactly this kind of work on several occasions (and I always have to grab a Chronicle to find his number). He turns up when he says he will, and does good work. Doesn’t rush, charges fair money. I’m in Belco, so I’m sure Gunners won’t be a problem for him.
