Renovation gone bad...... (and dealing with termites)

OK, so I decided to lay the floating floor in the last room of the house today. While removing the skirting board & architraves I found we had had an infestation of white ants at some stage (how long ago I dont know but fingers crossed they buggered off a long time ago).

Can someone please point me to a reliable pest inspector?

I am after someone who will give me an honest report regarding the condition of the rest of my house so I can repair the damage & finish my original task,

Ta.

Both programs had an obsession with white ants infesting houses a few years ago. Nowadays the ratings are obviously showing that stories about speed cameras are pulling in the viewers, but I’m sure they’d give termites a run again when the miracle cures and Scientology stories are in short supply.

too funny – Today Tonight are running a termite story tonight! 🙂

If the infestation is old don’t worry about it. You can get under the house & check – if the white ant trails are damp then they are around otherwise if the signs are old they have probably gone years ago.

My current house has had white ants chew up to half the thickness of the floor bearers in some parts with no effect on the floor frame. (Looks like it happened about 20 years ago.)

By the way I’ve had a pest inspector give the all clear then gone under the house myself & found white ants – and make sure there are no timber sleepers in the garden to attract them.

Manns Pest Control and Armageddon are very experienced and honest. Try Hart Pest Management also – definitely avoid the larger companies cant mention any names but you get the drift……

Call Shane at Manns pest control. Had to go through the same process myself when a building inspector failed to find damage (1 m inside subfloor crawl space) so I feel for you finding the unexpected. Shane is straight with what he will tell you whether you want to hear it or not. he does regular follow ups at our place and has even visited neighbours to inpect large trees in their yards on ou behalf.

I can also attest to the exact same experience with Shane, he is professional and thorough.

Thanks tricky, I managed to get onto Aramageddon as normal pesties don’t deal with white ants aparrently. Don’t blame them actually due to the hidden nature of them.

I will give you a call if that doesn’t work out.

As far as TT & ACA are concerned, I don’t watch them. Neighbours is more believable…..

Kb I am a licensed pest controller and own and operate my own business in the A.C.T I specialise in termites and i am able to carry out a full inspection and report. Just let me know if you are interested and it can be done this week.
