Road Closures for Ironman event on Sunday

From the invincible TAMS:

The ACT Government wishes to advise motorists and other road users of an upcoming road closure in for the Ironman 70.3 Canberra 2013 event.

The following closures will occur from 6.30 am to 1.30 pm on Sunday 15 December 2013:

– Parkes Way westbound between Kings Avenue and Glenloch Interchange
– Coppins Crossing Road between William Hovell Drive and Uriarra Road
– Streeton Drive northbound at the intersection with Unwin Place.

Barriers and warning and diversion signs will be erected on site to ensure road users are aware of the closure.

The ACT Government apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Isn’t Canberra a bit far from the beach to host an ironman event?

I have always wondered how it is possible that name is allowed to be used in this country for an endurance event involving swimming. I guess our trademark and copyright laws aren’t applied as ridiculously or as mean spiritedly as in America.
