Sammy J
Smart, catchy, witty, filthy and hugely entertaining musical comedian, Sammy J, is coming to the 2014 Canberra Comedy Festival. Sammy’s hosted a national sketch comedy show and performed to sell-out crowds in Australia and the
massive international comedy festivals in Edinburgh and Montreal. His musical comedy has seen him nominated for two ARIA awards.

Sammy’s 2012 Aria nominated album ‘Skinny Man Modern World’ contains hits such as ‘Keep it Clean’ (the f#@k song) and ‘Mermaid’. As an example of his material, ‘Mermaid’ is a 10 minute song about his childhood love affair with a mermaid. It is one of Sammy’s favourites.

Paddy Hornby from the festival team says, “First time I saw Sammy J I went out and bought his album so I could hear all the songs again. He is clever when the material gets outrageous. It’s great to listen to, but you have to see him live to really be part of all the hilarity that comes with his over the top lyrics and eccentricity. Audiences love him.”

The shows Sammy J has done in Canberra before have sold out. Similarly, the festival team is expecting his 2014 Canberra Comedy Festival show ‘The Sammy J Songbook’ to prove extremely popular. He is also performing as part of the already sold out Opening Night Gala.

Sammy J describes his new show as, “the finest selection of his favourite songs spanning the years 2004 – 2014, including controversial works composed in his heady experimental days of 2007.”

“An endlessly creative talent” – Time Out, London.

Sammy J will be performing at the Canberra Comedy Festival with his show ‘The Sammy J Songbook’ at 7pm on Wednesday March 5 and Thursday March 6 at the Canberra Theatre Centre, Courtyard Studio.

Canberra Comedy Festival runs from March 4-9 2014. There are over 50 shows with the world’s top comedians. For tickets and more information go to www.canberracomedyfestival.com.au.

In my experience anyone who says they are “ready to rock” isnt.

I love good comedy, but he was painful to listen to on the ABC NYE coverage…

Maybe when he can swear he is funny?
