School holiday activities

I can’t seem to find much online about school holiday activities for this break. My 5 year old is testing my patience and I’m only 2 days in!

The Botanic Gardens are doing bilby mask making over Easter 9.30-4.30pm so we might check that out as craft is usually a winner around our house.

Has anyone got any ideas or heard of anything interesting going on?

Did you get a copy of Holiday Happenings? If not, you can also download it online…

I don’t know if it’s entirely recommended but I was at Gold’s Gym this morning and it was packed. There were several parents with very young kids and those kids were working out with weights, not the usual kid’s gym or gymbaroo stuff.

Gymbaroo usually run a holiday program.

Hi morethanmumma,

Libraries ACT has a few school holiday activities.

Tuggeranong Library is running Easter egg hunts at 10.30 am every day (other than Good Friday and Easter Sunday) until Wednesday 30 April.

Wednesday whimsies at Dickson Library may also appeal to your craft lover – the kids get to hear a story and take part in an activity and craft. It’s held each Wednesday, starts at 4 pm and runs for approximately 30 minutes. You can book here: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/wednesday-whimsies-ages-4-dickson-library-tickets-10011238885

You can see the libraries’ autumn activities program to find out what else is on: http://www.library.act.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/559325/140003-ACT-Libraries-Autumn-02.pdf

Best of luck for the rest of the school holidays.

I took my children to ‘Measure Island’ yesterday at Questacon. They loved it – jungle-themed interactive exhibits regarding measurement.

Our 5 year old son loves ice skating. It’s not a cheap activity at $15 per person plus skate hire, but it does chew up a few hours.

He also likes to do the holiday gym sessions at Southern Canberra Gymnastics. They take an hour and a half and cost about $15. The good thing about that is that it’s time to just sit and watch whilst they run off some energy. I suspect the Belco gym would have a similar program if you are up that way.
