Would agree if they could keep the blast/fallout radius down to 150m or so :-\

The “cashier” would have had more $$ in their pocket than in the till … this “supermarket” reportedly abandoned any pretence to being a retail outlet some time ago. Our household has a blanket ban on ever darkening their doorway, as do our neighbours. The sooner the plod tire of visiting the flats in the area and instead attack the heart of the problem, the better.

Perhaps you know something I don’t, but I’d have thought that the flats ARE the heart of the problem.
The whole shopping center suffers an absurd amount of shoplifting and other crime given the location, and the proximity of the scum flats helps reduce what little foot traffic they might otherwise get.
Doesn’t help that Scullin/Southern-Cross is no longer a normal primary school either of course.

In general Scullin is a pretty nice, quiet suburb, but the pockets of public housing near the shops (in the past year or so we’ve had stabbings, the cat ‘incident’ and now this, plus god knows what that didn’t make it into media releases) and to a lesser extent the street full of it further down the hill toward Florey introduce a terrible, disruptive, violent, criminal element into what would otherwise be a very nice suburb.

What’s wrong with Southern Cross Primary School?
What’s wrong with the houses close to Florey?

Was going to say the same thing.

I’m not sure what Southern Cross being changed into an early childhood school has to do with crime rates in the suburb.

Close, but I think you need to nuke everything around Belco and Gungers to be really sure!

Northside, flying the flag for crime again I see!

errr I meant in regard to foot traffic and business for the shops. Kids buying hot chips after school was pretty common, at least when I was 11-12. The early childhood school would IMO have less of that, that’s all.
I wasn’t in any way shape or form trying to suggest that it caused crime.

There’s a specific street in that direction that’s pretty much 100% ACT housing, and I was talking about that street in particular.
