Territory And Municipal Services have special buses running for the Royal Canberra Show:

Free chartered ACTION buses will operate at regular intervals over Friday and Saturday taking passengers from the Canberra Show to the City Bus Station between 9 pm and midnight.

Friday 24 February 2012

ACTION’s Red Rapid route 200 express service links Gungahlin, Mitchell, EPIC (Canberra Show), Dickson, City, Russell, Barton, Kingston and DFO Fyshwick every 15 minutes between 7 am to 7 pm.

ACTION’s regular services (50, 56, 57 and 58) will operate between Belconnen, Gungahlin, City and the Canberra Show.

Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February 2012

ACTION’s additional Canberra Show bus routes will provide return travel to the Canberra Show from all bus stations over the weekend including the Gungahlin Marketplace.

For more information on ACTION services please visit www.action.act.gov.au

TRAFFIC IMPACT

Motorists are also reminded there is likely to be some traffic congestion and possible delays on Flemington Road for the duration of the Royal Canberra Show. These delays may extend to Monday 27 February 2012 as exhibitor traffic leaves EPIC.

It is recommended motorists use alternative routes such as Gungahlin Drive or factor delays into their travel time on the effected dates.

I don’t need a bus or parking as I live walking distance from the show. Yay me! But am preparing to take on the show organisers on their “no pass outs” (their term!) policy because I want to go in the morning, come home to do other stuff and then go back in the evening for the sideshow alley (so much more enjoyable after dark).

There is currently 40 signs, banked up traffic and workers on Flemington road outside the EPIC carparks.

Yep. Its all there all right. I suspect they have left it a tad late to fill in the enormous pot holes before the show traffic arrives.

Clever of someone to schedule roadwork on Flemington Rd just in time for the show too. Not.

Please note this press release is just letting people know that there is likely to be increased traffic as a result of the Royal Canberra Show and delays may occur. There is no roadworks scheduled for Flemington Road over the next four days.
