Simon Corbell has announced the launch of the Stormsafe campaign.

“The campaign delivers a very important message for all Canberra households; ‘You don’t have to wear orange to be storm safe’, which encourages all residents of the ACT to think about what they can do to minimise the damage their home could sustain during the coming months,” he said.

“The actions residents can take to prepare their homes are simple and during this campaign the ACTSES in their orange uniforms, will be demonstrating to Canberran’s how easy it is to protect their homes and family again storm damage,” he said.

The campaign will feature advice on things Canberra householders can do to prepare their homes including:
• Maintaining the condition of your roof by keeping gutters clear of fallen leaves and by fixing cracked tiles;
• Preparing your yard by trimming overhanging tree branches and securing loose furniture and;
• Preparing your family by having an emergency safety kit, keeping children and pets indoors during a storm and keeping your insurance up to date.

The ESA page has links to lots of things but we were particularly impressed by the ability of the pamphlet to make storms seem dull.
