Chief Minister Stanhope is encouraging folks to get down to Eddison Park for the Skateboarding Australia Dew Series ACT round.

This is a fantastic opportunity to watch the best talent locally and from interstate vie for their chance to make the national final in April,” Mr Stanhope said. “Entry is free and I encourage Canberrans to drop in and see the skills of these talented young skateboarders.

“With the event to receive coverage on national television, it will also showcase the excellent facilities on offer for skaters – and BMX riders – at the $1.4 million Eddison Park Youth Recreation Area, which was completed in 2009 as a joint project between the ACT and Federal governments.

“The facility provides a dedicated space for young people to exercise and socialise with its street plaza skate park, performance space, shaded seating and integrated landscaping. The park was built so it could attract events to the area so I am pleased it has helped Canberra become part of this national event series for the first time.”
