Smokin' up in Hall

As Winter sets in, we can anticipate the joys and comfort of fires, warm hot pots, roasts, and rustic living. For those of us are ambitious enough to leave our cocoons of warmth in these chilly days, Poacher’s Pantry in offering a tour of their smokehouse as part of the Canberra Environment Centre’s SUSTAINability workshops.

Poacher’s Pantry has been a speciality smokers of fine meats since 1999. In recent years, the family businesses, located in Hall, has expanded trade with several events in the foodie Summerside Festival, as well as opening a new cafe.

The smokehouse tour is on Friday 12th June from 3 – 4.30pm. It will be run with Susan Bruce who will explain the smoking process and the development of other flabours such as black tea and cloves. The tour finishes up with a wine and smoked meat tasting – a deserving finish before heading back into Canberra.
